Knowledge Bases

Walkabout's Knowledge Base is the key to it's power as a reporting system. It is created only once, and serves all queries thereafter. Arguably the biggest advantage Walkabout has over other reporting systems is that the Knowledge Base can be readily customised to suit your individual requirements. Your technical staff can embed Progress code to simplify complex file structures and create calculated fields that do not exist in your database, e.g. an employee's age derived from their date of birth. You simply select the files and fields created by the Knowledge Base designer without having to know how they are derived or linked.

Once a Knowledge Base has been created for an application database, it can be shipped to other users of that database with ease. Listed below are some of the Knowledge Bases currently available for Walkabout. 
MFG/Pro

 

The Walkabout Knowledge Base for MFG/Pro covers the Works Orders, Purchasing, Accounting, Sales Orders, Sales History, Inventory, Quotations and Invoicing areas of the MFG/Pro database.

 

"Site Name" has been included in 15 files for ease of reporting. The "Address Master" fields appear in both the "Vendors" and "Customers" tables.

PECAS

 

The PECAS Knowledge Base contains 56 tables covering the three main application databases, PECAS 1, PECAS 2 & PECAS 3. The areas covered include: Sales and Production Estimates, Jobs, Production Control, Materials, Sales and Purchase Ledgers, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, Warehousing, Deliveries and Suppliers.
Prolease

 

The Prolease Knowledge Base contains 98 tables spanning the accounts, assets, lease and marketing databases, and covers the following areas: Contracts, Maintenance Authorisation and Invoicing, Purchasing and Sales, Assets and Finance, Fuel Cards, Drivers and Vehicles. The Contract section includes details of early terminations and movements, both physical and financial.
