The way you access information tends to depend on who you are. Walkabout's security features allow you a wide choice, but we have found that within any organisation users tend to split into groups:

Report designers use Walkabout to design reports, view, print and export reports, either running them manually or scheduling them for automatic production

Report viewers  primarily view, print and export. Having this category save training cost as they do not need to know how to design. In some organisations this group will be allowed to run reports and in others not.

Executives have a dashboard, which they either maintain themselves or the system administrator maintains it for them. This group do not usually design reports.

Report receivers do not have access to Walkabout at all. They either receive exported data to load into spreadsheets, or they receive report images in PDF format, or they view reports which have been exported to your intranet.

External users make information available  to your customers, suppliers... by exporting reports as web pages on your website. Walkabout's row security features enable you to produce reports for specific people, so data security is not compromised.

System administrators can usually do anything and everything!
